Government Communications Experience Potomac Communications Group helps government agencies meet demanding communications challenges. Heres a sample of the work weve done for federal agencies: U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). PCG has worked closely with DOE since 1981 for a variety of program offices. One large project is the Rebuild America program, a community-based approach to energy efficiency. PCGs role within Rebuild America includes recruiting new partners, developing online and print materials, serving as communications liaison with six regional offices, and supporting a variety of events and activities. The Rebuild America program has grown to nearly 800 community partnerships with our support. U.S. Department of Education (ED). PCG researched and evaluated the potential of High Skills Communities (HSC), a concept created by EDs Office of Vocational and Adult Education. We conducted focus groups, online research and field visits to determine how an HSC program could be shaped to meet the needs of adult literacy program providers. The research resulted in a new approach, white paper, findings document, launch event and design model for the HSC program. National Science Foundation (NSF). PCG is working with NSF to develop electronic and print outreach products to more broadly share its education mission and the results of its grant projects. Among other projects we developed an audience-centered search engine for the new NSF Web site, fact sheets on NSF programs, several brochures, workshop reports and a multi-purpose conference exhibit. We have also received two grants from the NSF, the first in partnership with George Washington University to research how educators communicate and the second to create a legacy document for NSF's Urban Systemic Program, a 10-year effort to improve math and science education in 30 school districts around the United States. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). PCG created a customized media training program for dozens of lead scientists and top managers in some of NASAs most prestigious programs. We conducted training for members of the Shuttle Return to Flight Program and the Mars Lander Program; individuals who improve the safety of commercial, military and general aviation; and climatologists who work on global climate change. The goal was to prepare experts who have limited media experience to answer tough questions under challenging circumstances. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We provided communications support for a working group of EPA management, environmentalists, state and federal regulators, and private industry to promote the cleaner burning gasoline program. We helped develop a strategy for disseminating information, created a brochure that was distributed nationwide, and provided media counsel on message development and outreach. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard. PCG conducts intensive two-and-one-half-day media and risk communication training sessions as part of the Coast Guards On-Scene Coordinator Crisis Management Course. Participants include senior Coast Guard officers (including several representing foreign nations), federal and state environmental and public health officials, industry executives, union representatives, and others who respond to environmental releases. PCG also conducts an introductory media training session for the Coast Guards International Officers program. Officers from more than 30 nations have participated in the training. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI). Under extreme deadline pressure, PCG created a suite of new marketing materials to assist OSIs recruiting efforts. In just over 30 days, we designed and produced a logo, a trade show exhibit, a brochure, a series of fact sheets, and a marketing portfolio. The materials were invaluable in attracting new OSI agents, and the Air Force Inspector General was so impressed with the exhibit design that he displayed it outside his office in the Pentagon. |
